Stratford's swans serve time in their pen all winter before being released ceremniously every spring with a parade to the Avon River where they live gracefully all summer. The birds are huge and bold, and for drawing, it's actually more comfortable to be on the other side of a fence than sitting at eye level. A direct gaze is confrontational, especially during nesting season. These are three of Stratford's swans doing their time.
